2019 SOA BOD Candidates Wanted

The Somersett Owners Association (SOA) Board of Director (BOD) positions currently held by Jason Roland and Frank Leto are up for re-election this fall. To date, SU has received no indication as to whether or not Directors Roland and Leto will be seeking re-election. In this regard, SU believes it important that incumbents disclose their intentions, as it may influence the decision of others to run or not run. Both open positions are for a two-year term. The election process being as follows:

  • Association members desiring to serve the community via the BOD must complete the required Candidate Statement Form and return it by October 4th to the SOA office at The Club at Town Center (TCTC). Along with the required Form, Candidates may also include an optional one-page statement with additional information supporting their candidacy (highly recommended). Provision of a “head shot” is also recommended (submitted via email to soa@mysomersett.com). Both the candidate statements and head shot photographs will be published on the SOA website. Candidate Forms were recently made available to those Association members on the “Somersett Happenings” email distribution list. If you have not received such, a copy may also be downloaded via the following link:

  • Subsequent to the October 4th deadline for Candidate submittals, Election Ballots along with the Candidate Statements will be mailed to all Association Members . Although not yet announced, if past practice holds, one or two “Meet the Candidate” nights will be scheduled shortly after the ballot mailings. This to allow Association Members to meet the Candidates, listen to their responses on fixed questions (normally prepared by the Communication Committee) and ask questions of their own.
  • If past practice holds, Ballots must be returned to the SOA by 1:00 PM on the date of the Annual Members Meeting, which is scheduled for November 18th at TCTC. It is anticipated that ballot boxes will be installed at both the TCTC and Aspen Lodge for convenience. They may also be mailed as long as they are received at TCTC by the 1:00 PM November 18th deadline.
  • Ballots will be opened, counted and results announced at the November 18th Annual Homeowner Meeting at TCTC.

New participation on the Board is always a good thing. If you feel qualified and have a desire to serve your community, you are encouraged to “throw your hat in the ring” and submit your SOA Board Candidate Statement.

Candidates wishing to announce and publish supporting information on this website may do so via email to somersettunited@gmail.com.

Note: In the past, a “News” article has been posted on the SOA Website (www.somersett.net) outlining all the derails associated with the SOA BOD election process, we assume this will be forthcoming.

  1. In my opinion, if no one other than SGCC members run for the Board, homeowners will be assessed indefinitely to maintain the failing SGCC. I’d love to hear otherwise..
